I had the pleasure of meeting LePatrick, He is an amazing Hip Hop Artist that is committed to using his voice to glorify God. I wanted to feature him on my blog because I believe in what he is doing. He also has been kind of enough to allow me to use one of his songs in my Celebrity/Band Gallery. We had a lot of fun during his photo shoot (above) Below is a short Bio. When you get a chance go to my site and listen to his song.
HiGium?? Pronounced (High-G-Um) which is an acronym for His Grace is Upon Me. His name is a life long testament to this 28 year old artist from Tyler, Texas, who hopes to use his gifting to glorify God in the form of hip hop music. HiGium has been a believer in Christ all his life attending Church as a youngster on into his adult hood. But he didn’t start out doing Christian music. Inspired by the lyrical and prolific rappers of yesterday like, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, Tribe Called Quest, Wu-Tang, Biggie and Tupac, HiGium often attempted to immolate these artists in his early days of recording. And even on the production end of things, he would create beats to give a sound as impactful as a Dr. Dre, Timbaland, and Teddy Riley. But HiGium knew this wasn’t going to be fruitful at all. The lyrics were all lies and fabrications, and the music wasn’t real. HiGium admitted to trying to be like ”Them” because at the time it seemed like the thing to do, but fortunately God showed him that there is a need for his gift in the body of believers. He began listening to Cross Movement, a Christian group out of Philly, and fell in love with the content, being Christ, all over again. The professionalism as well as the subjects they spoke on convinced HiGium to go back to the drawing boards and do it all for Christ. Today, he is working on setting up his own recording studio and releasing his first solo Gospel Album. He’s done an album in a Group called Church with college friend Jermaine Wilson under the Phatboy Productions record label based out of fort Worth. Here he got a lot of do’s and don’ts a Christian artist should take into account. HiGium battles with wanting to be successful in the secular rap world but he realizes it’s all vanity. He prays God will continue to strengthen him to resist the majority and fight the good fight not just for himself but everyone searching for truth.
CHRIST ALL DAY!!!
peace
